Forced Perspective

This photo is supposed to look like she's climbing a wall when in reality she's laying on a floor.

This photo looks like she's sitting against a wall when she's really laying down with her feet up the wall.

Color Changes

Since red is a complementary color of green, I changed the color of the tulip from purple to red. I did this using the magic wand tool to select the subject the added a fill layer. I then selected "darker" under layers to make it look the most natural.

Color Meaning

This photo shows beauty through the color purple. This fits with my theme because I believe beauty is a trait of femininity.

Gradients

This photo was created using the Gradient Maps. I chose the colors blue and yellow and then lowered the opacity.
This photo was created using the Gradient Tool and using two pictures to create a double exposed look.
This photo was also using the Gradient Tool but I chose to have another part of the second picture showing. Also, I added a vintage effect to the picture.

Creative Color

 Vintage Color
To make this photo look older, I changed the primary colors in Curves to make the color a little bit more yellow. Also, I decreased the saturation and vibrancy.

Pictorialism
To make this photo not look exactly like a photo, I added a vignette and noise. Also, I made the photo and colors darker.

High Color Contrast
For this photo, I increased Vibrancy and Saturation to make the colors more intense. Also, I made an extreme S-Curve in Curves and incrased the contrast and brightness.

Text in Image

To edit this image, I used Adobe Illustrator. I chose lyrics from the song "Creep" by Radiohead because they tied into my image of a plate of food.
The lyrics and the picture together represent someone having an eating disorder .

High Pass Sharpening

I feel bad for editing this picture and I hope she never sees it...

I used the High Pass feature to sharpen this image and bring out the details. Then I used a Layer Mask to blur the background.

Rhythm

For this assignment, I showed movement by taking pictures of people in different places but in the same scene. Then in Photoshop I used the magnetic lasso tool and layer masks to move them from one picture to a background image.

Color Emphasis

For these photos I selected one part of the photo using the magnetic selection tool. Then, I turned on the Quick Mask Mode to make sure all of the parts of the photo were selected. Then I inverted my selection and made the rest of the photo black and white. While in black and white mode I just adjusted the reds and yellows a little bit to bring out the shadows. My favorite is definitely the first one.

Portraits

Photo #1: For this photo I used front diffused artificial lighting. I edited it by putting a surface blur on her face.
Photo #2: For this photo I used side direct artificial lighting. To edit it, I added a lighting effect to bring out her face and enhance the shadows.
Photo #3: There was natural 3/4 lighting coming in from a window. I adjusted the tone of the photo to make it look more sepia. I also did spot remover and a slight surface blur.
Photo #4: In this photo, there was side natural lighting also coming in through a window. To edit this photo, I also added a surface blur and adjusted the curves so the shadows came out more.

Reflection: I like these pictures, but they definitely are not the best. The quality came out poorly and they aren't very interesting to look at. Although, I do think they reflect my friends quite well. In the first picture, I captured Paige's face perfectly. The second picture captures Paige's silly side that she definitely has. In the third photo of Ariana, it captured her unique style. The fourth photo, I'm not sure. I don't know how to describe the expression Talia has on her face...but I like it.

White Balance Assignment

For this assignment I adjusted the white balance depending on the lighting. In darker light/shadows I adjusted the white balance so the photo didn't turn out so blue. In incandescent lighting I changed the white balance so the whites didn't look so yellow/orange.

To delete the words from the Gatorade I used the Clone Stamp tool in photoshop to move the pixels of one area the picture over the words.
To make this picture a vignette, I used a black Color Mask in Photoshop. I also made the colors brighter by adjusting the shadows and enhancing the saturation.

A Day in the Life of a Hipster

Collage:

For this assignment, I took photos of typical hipster things. I focused on adjusting my ISO settings from a range from 80 to 400 depending on the lighting. For outdoor or sunny settings, the ISO was about 80. For pictures where I only had indoor lighting during the night, I used a 400 ISO since that's the highest setting available.

Artist Statement

I create art because there is no wrong or right. You can create whatever you want and if you're happy with it, then you're successful in your art. Also, I think you can learn a lot about yourself when you look at your art later since it portrays the emotion the artist was feeling when they created the artwork. I think I find inspiration in a lot of things in life. Mostly in music, nature, and people. You can see my inspiration in my artwork because I create art based on what is going on in my life. What kind of music I've been listening to, what season it is, and who I'm friends with. I've created many paintings, some clay works, and several digital and film photos through class and in my free time. This semester I would like to take photos that express my emotions and views while inspiring others when they see it.
